It’s a big achievement for Pakistan! Forty-three researchers from the National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST) are now part of the top 2% of scientists in the world for 2024. Every year, Stanford University and Elsevier make this list to honor scientists who are doing great work in fields like artificial intelligence, engineering, and cybersecurity.

NUST has made amazing progress over the years. In 2021, only nine researchers were on the list, but now in 2024, there are 43! This shows how NUST is becoming very important in global research. In fact, NUST ranks 353rd worldwide and 64th in Asia, making it one of the best research schools in Pakistan.

Stanford and Elsevier look at things like how often the scientists’ work is used (citation counts), how important their role is in each study, and how many people read their work. This way, they can see which scientists are making a big impact.

Some of NUST’s top researchers, like Dr. Muhammad Shahid, Dr. Noreen Sher Akbar, Dr. Meraj Mustafa Hashmi, and Dr. Rizwan Ul Haq, are doing impressive work. They are helping in areas like materials science, nanotechnology, cybersecurity, and physics. This shows NUST’s strong commitment to important research that is making Pakistan proud in the world of science.
