All schools in Karachi and throughout Sindh will be closed on Monday, August 26, in observance of Chehlum for Imam Hussain (RA), as announced by the provincial government on Friday.
The decision to close educational institutions was made by a steering committee from the provincial education department. Chehlum, marking the end of a 40-day mourning period for Imam Hussain (RA) and his 72 companions who were martyred in the Battle of Karbala in 680 AD, will be observed with deep respect and high security.
Various mourning processions, featuring Alam, Tazia, and Zuljinah, will take place in cities across the province.
